3D Printers Today Same Price as Laser Printers in 1985

Ponoko blogs an exciting parallel; Today Desktop Factory is about to launch their 3D Printer for under $5000. In 1985 Apple LaserWriter launched at $6995, and became a common office item. That was the beginning of the Desktop Publishing Revolution, when you could repeatedly print anything you could type. It isn't here yet, but we're much closer to 3D Printing and Fabbing than it might seem. (Also mentioned in O'Reilly Radar)
